FIESTA GLOVES
MATERIALS: 4 oz. Fiesta’s La Boheme in color of your choice, #4 & #6 dpns, tapestry ndl.
GAUGE: Using #6 ndl working in Patt #2, 20 sts and 28 rows measures 10 cm.
FINISHED MEASUREMENTS: Gloves will fit an average size woman.
PATTERN STS
Patt #1: a repeat of 4 sts.
Round 1: *K2, P2* repeat across round.
Repeat round 1 throughout.
Patt#2:
Round 1: K
Repeat round 1 throughout.
GENERAL PATTERN NOTES: Gloves are worked in the round using dpns.
RIGHT GLOVE
CUFF: Using #4 dpn, CO 40 sts. Begin working in the round, being careful not to twist sts. K 3 rounds.
Begin working in Patt #1 for 18 rounds.
WRIST: Change to #6 ndls and begin using Patt #2. Work 7 rounds even.
THUMB SHAPING: Inc 1 st (incs are done by putting ndl from back through the center of the st below and lifting up the loop onto the ndl) PM, finish the round.
Work 2 rounds even. Inc. 1 st on either side of single thumb st (3 thumb sts), finish the round. Work 1 round even. Continue inc 1 st at each end of thumb sts (1st st and the last st before marker) every other round until there are 13 thumb sts. Work 1 round even.
THUMB: Put 40 sts of the hand on a holder. Working only on thumb sts. Arrange 13 sts. on 3 ndls. CO 2 sts at the left end of the thumb sts. Begin working in the round for 10 rows (or desired length). Shape thumb tip as follows: Dec. 2 sts randomly across each round until 5 sts rem. Break yarn and using tapestry ndl pull tail through rem 5 sts. Pull tight and weave end in on the WS.
HAND: Arrange 40 sts on holder back onto #6 dpns. Pick up 4 sts along the edge of the thumb (44 sts). Work even for 17 rounds (or desired length).
DIVIDE FOR FINGERS: Divide 44 sts into palm & back of hand by placing 1st 21 sts on one dpn (palm) and rem 23 sts (back) on another dpn. It’s easiest at this point to place sts for each finger on a separate holder (use yarn, not metal holders) as follows:
INDEX FINGER: Place 1st 6 sts of palm and 1st 7 sts. of back onto holder.
MIDDLE FINGER: Place Next 5 sts of palm and next 6 sts of back onto holder.
THIRD FINGER: Place Next 5 sts of palm and next 5 sts of back onto holder.
PINKY FINGER: Place rem 10 sts of palm and back onto a holder.
Starting with the index finger, work each finger as follows:
INDEX FINGER: Arrange sts onto 3 ndls. CO 2 sts between palm and back sts where 2nd finger is. Work even on 15 sts for 11 rounds (or desired length). Shape tip of finger as for thumb.
MIDDLE FINGER: Arrange sts onto 3 ndls. Pick up & K 3 sts between palm and back along the edge of index finger and CO 2 sts between palm and back sts next to the third finger. Work even on 16 sts for 12 rounds (or desired length). Shape tip as for thumb until 6 sts rem.
THIRD FINGER: Arrange sts onto 3 ndls. Pick up & K 3 sts between palm and back sts along the edge of the middle finger and CO2 between palm and back sts. next to pinky. Work even on 15 sts for 11 rounds (or desired length). Shape tip as for thumb.
PINKY FINGER: Arrange sts on 3 dpns. Pick up & K 3 sts between palm and back sts along edge of third finger.
Work even on 13 sts for 8 rounds (or desired length). Shape tip as for thumb.
LEFT GLOVE
Work as for right glove up to fingers. Divide sts into palm and back sides by placing 1st 23 sts (back) onto one ndl and rem 21 sts onto another ndl (palm). Place finger sts on holders as follows:
INDEX FINGER: Place 1st 7 sts of back sts and 1st 6 sts of palm sts onto a holder.
MIDDLE FINGER: Place next 6 sts of back and 5 sts of palm onto a holder.
THIRD FINGER; Place next 5 sts of back and 5 sts of palm onto a holder.
PINKY FINGER: Place rem 10 sts of palm and back onto a holder.
Work fingers as for right glove.
